What does it mean to care - and why doesn’t it “fit” in our work?

This podcast episode is dedicated to care - a word with many different meanings, especially when it comes to work and daily life. How does the unequal distribution of caregiving responsibilities affect the lives of caregivers? What does it mean for women to be consistently present in the role of informal caregivers, and what is the role of men in this landscape? 

Starting with the most central question –why discuss care in the workplace– in the first episode of the new series, Stella Kasdagli, co-founder of WHEN/inc.lude and author, welcomes Asimina Brouzou, co-founder of the organisation Challedu. Together they introduce us to the new European project CAREdiZO: a project that aims to bridge the gender gap in caring responsibilities and empower small businesses and organisations to adopt equality policies and practices.

CAREdiZO: “Gaining from caring” - A new European project by MIGS on gender equality at work, at home and in society. his European project aims to promote the equal share of care and close the gender gap by empowering organizations and businesses through  innovative digital tools, training, and networking opportunities.

WHEN (previously known as Women On Top), in partnership with Always, a Procter & Gamble brand, presents the new #StopPeriodShaming guide, an initiative that aims to combat menstrual stigma.

Our name has been a central element of our organization’s identity from the very beginning - it's hard to find someone that hadn’t noticed it! So central, in fact, that over the years we had included special Q&A sections on the FAQ page of our website to explain how we chose it and why it is what it is.

We loved our name, and it kept us good company up to this point. Now, 13 years after the day it all began, the time has come to change it.

The Handbook for the design & implementation of mentoring programs was created as a part of this project, and it includes detailed guidelines and best practices for designing, implementing, and coordinating mentoring programs, along with useful resources on budgeting and funding such initiatives.

This Guide is part of the "We Are With U: Raising Student Awareness on Gender Equality in the Workplace" project, which is implemented within the framework of the BUILD program, implemented by WHEN and partnered by the Hellenic Society of University Women (ELEGYP).

This tool was created as part of Ready for Work at Engineering, WHEN's specialized employability skills program for women looking for their first or second job in the energy sector, organized with the support of Motor Oil Group. With this program, 30 young women who are about to graduate or have already graduated from Engineering Schools, were equipped with the necessary tools and developed the skills they need to succeed in the Energy field.

The Policy Road Map describes a summary of the comprehensive findings, discoveries, and initiatives undertaken within the framework of the Femin-ICT initiative.

The purpose of this program is to provide women working in the ICT sectors and women wishing to enter the ICT sector, including students in any of these fields, with knowledge and skills that will make them able and empower them to overcome obstacles that have been put into their way by gender bias and other factors.

This toolkit is designed to help companies, organizations, incubators and academic institutions address this complex and multilayered issue by providing practical ideas and solutions.

Through this methodological tool we aim to empower each and every tech-related ecosystem to begin their journey towards creating more gender-responsive policies, practices and operations to support a more and more equitable ICT field in the process.

At the Responsible Businesses Awards 2024, the recognized institution for representatives of the country’s social partners and productive entities, as well as corporations that invest in Sustainable Development practices, 3 WHEN actions were awarded!

In our quest to achieve greater gender equality in the job market, we are launching a crowdfunding campaign to create WHEN, the first female-focused working, learning, empowerment, and advocacy hub with on-site childcare in Greece. 

In the FoWoSe program (Fostering women's social entrepreneurship) we collaborated with organizations from 5 different countries in Europe, to train and guide organizations involved in the promotion of entrepreneurship, so that they become more equal, first as employers, and then towards the entrepreneurs they support.

FEMIN-ICT is a collaboration between 7 organizations from Greece, Belgium, Cyprus, Italy, Stockholm, Spain and Sweden, which aimed to address the underrepresentation and difficulty of advancement of women in the Information & Communications Technology (ICT) sector, encouraging more women to enter the industry, giving them the tools they need to succeed, and promoting their equal participation, representation and treatment within the ecosystem.

The year 2023 was yet another year of growth for WHEN as we completed the first strategic plan we created in 2021. You will read many of its outputs and outcomes in this annual report.

This Financial Literacy Guide is our contribution to the need we observe by experience and research, for more and more women to start taking control of their finances and grow professionally, creatively and socially, using money not as an end in itself, but as a valuable tool.
