Training manual for employees

Categories: European Programs, Tools

Within the framework of the FAIR PAY project, the Research Centre for Gender Equality (KETHI) as lead partner, with authors from the Greek Association of Women Entrepreneurs (SEGE) and WHEN, created the training manual for employees.

This manual is addressed to employees in Greek enterprises, regardless of size (micro, small, medium and large). Its aim is to support the understanding and practical exploitation of the rights associated with pay transparency and the principle of equal pay for work of equal value, as reinforced by the new European framework.

Pay transparency does not only concern policies or procedures implemented by the enterprise. It also concerns the extent to which employees can understand how their pay is determined, what criteria influence increases and promotions, and how they can request information or clarification when something is not clear. In this sense, the manual functions as an training manual of empowerment and information.

The scope of the manual covers the employment relationship at all its stages: before recruitment, during the selection process and after joining the organization. It includes access to information, understanding what “equal pay for work of equal value” means, recognizing possible forms of discrimination, as well as the available procedures and routes of action when there is a suspicion of inequality.

The manual is informative and supportive in nature. It does not replace legal advice, nor does it assume familiarity with legal terms. On the contrary, it attempts to translate the European framework into understandable knowledge and practical ways, emphasizing documented dialogue and the gradual, safe exploitation of rights. At the same time, it takes into account that the possibilities and procedures may differ depending on the size and organization of the company.

This manual is also educational in nature and is intended to be used in the context of employee training and awareness-raising actions. For this reason, it includes examples, practical tools and points of reflection that can support the experiential understanding of pay transparency issues.
