Awareness-raising and training seminars for professionals to support victims of sexual harassment at the workplace.
As part of the S.T.A.R.T. (Strategic Tools for Addressing, Recognizing and Tackling Sexual Harassment at Work) project, WHEN, in collaboration with BIA STOP, is organizing a series of free awareness-raising and training seminars, aiming to empower lawyers, interns, corporate legal advisors and employees of the Independent Labor Inspection Authority, as well as those called upon to support victims or witnesses of sexual harassment at the front line (HR executives, mental health counselors, managers, etc.) in the workplace.
Effective support for victims requires a combination of legal knowledge, empathy and practical skills. In order for professionals to acquire tools to recognize, manage and combat incidents of sexual harassment with sensitivity and efficiency, the seminars will include:
- Information on the current legal framework (criminal, civil, labor and disciplinary law) and the rights of employees in cases of sexual harassment.
- Practical tools for recognizing and recording incidents, with respect for the process and the rights of all parties involved.
- Psycho-emotional dimensions of trauma and ways to avoid re-victimization during the legal or institutional process.
- Stereotypes and prejudices that influence the attitude of professionals and practices of conscientious support without discrimination.
- Social resistance, economic and professional factors that act as deterrents for victims, and empowerment strategies.
- Evidential challenges and tools for documenting cases in conditions of limited evidence.
At the end of the seminars, participants will have a deeper understanding of the institutional and human dimensions of sexual harassment in the workplace, will acquire tools for immediate and proper response to incidents, will develop skills to act as trained allies in the process of vindication and protection of victims and will acquire a network of cooperation with professionals and institutions in the field.

The project S.T.A.R.T. (Strategic Tools for Addressing, Recognizing and Tackling Sexual Harassment at Work) is being implemented under the PREVENT programme by WHEN and its partner, VIA STOP. The programme “Preventing gender-based violence and violence against children” (PREVENT) aims to prevent and combat gender-based violence (GBV) and violence against children, by supporting Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) active in these fields, in Greece and Cyprus, and by increasing their knowledge, capacity, and sustainability. PREVENT is co-funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights, and Values (CERV) programme, Bodossaki Foundation, and NGO Support Centre, with a total grant amount of €2.3 million. PREVENT is coordinated by the Bodossaki Foundation (Greece) in partnership with the NGO Support Centre (Cyprus).
