Workshop for parents: How to talk to children about period
- How do we talk to children about periods without embarrassment, fear or shame?
- When is the right moment to open this discussion and how can we answer their questions in a simple and understandable way?
WHEN, in collaboration with It’s Just Period and with the support of LIDL Hellas, is organizing a specially designed workshop for parents and caregivers, based on the new guide we created as part of the #StopPeriodPoverty initiative. The workshop aims to offer practical knowledge, tools and confidence to parents and caregivers, so that they can approach the topic with naturalness and honesty.
In-person workshop, Wednesday 22/4 @ Hub @ 18.00-20.00
During the workshop we will discuss:
- Why do conversations at home shape children’s attitudes towards their bodies and periods?
- How are stereotypes and stigma around menstruation created and reproduced?
- When and how can we talk about period at different ages (from childhood to adolescence)?
- How do we answer children’s difficult or unexpected questions?
- How can we support children when their first period is approaching or starting?
- How do we cultivate an open, safe and without shame discussion about the body and its changes?
The workshop will provide a space for sharing experiences, questions and practical examples, so that parents and caregivers can leave with greater comfort and confidence about how they can open and continue these important conversations at home. The goal is to strengthen parents’ knowledge and self-confidence, so that children grow up with a healthier, informed and stigma-free relationship with their bodies.
Participation is free and pre-registration is required!
*Free creative activities for children will be provided during the Masterclass. If you need this service, please let us know via the registration form!
