{"id":39783,"date":"2026-04-21T14:58:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T11:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/when.org.gr\/?p=39783"},"modified":"2026-04-21T14:58:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T11:58:09","slug":"students-and-professionals-discuss-conclusions-from-the-roundtables-of-the-school-of-no-bias","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/when.org.gr\/en\/students-and-professionals-discuss-conclusions-from-the-roundtables-of-the-school-of-no-bias\/","title":{"rendered":"Students and professionals discuss: Conclusions from the roundtables of the School of No Bias"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"text\">\n    <p>In March 2026, as part of the 3rd cycle of the \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/schoolofnobias.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School of No Bias<\/a><\/strong>\u201d project, WHEN organized and hosted <strong>two roundtables<\/strong> at the WHEN Hub, with the participation of secondary school <strong>students<\/strong> and <strong>professionals<\/strong> from the fields of communication, advertising and media.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>goal<\/strong> of these meetings was for children to meet and talk with adults working in the fields of<strong> journalism<\/strong>, <strong>advertising<\/strong>, <strong>social media<\/strong>, and <strong>media education<\/strong>, and to exchange <strong>opinions<\/strong> and <strong>views<\/strong>\u00a0on the way in which, media, shape and reproduce gender stereotypes, and the role that <strong>young people<\/strong> can play in shaping a more <strong>inclusive<\/strong> media landscape.<\/p>\n<p>Particular emphasis was placed on the role of <strong>media literacy<\/strong> as a key skill for <strong>understanding<\/strong> and critically <strong>evaluating<\/strong> the content we consume daily. Participants also discussed the <strong>pressure<\/strong> created by the need for \u201cclicks\u201d and readability in modern media, as well as the <strong>responsibilities<\/strong> shared by content creators, brands, platforms and users themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Great importance was given to the <strong>interventions<\/strong> of students who were <strong>conserned<\/strong>, <strong>recognized<\/strong> stereotypical representations and <strong>highlighted<\/strong> the value of critical thinking when consuming news and content on social media. The meetings confirmed that adolescents do not simply <strong>passively<\/strong> accept media messages, but can behave as <strong>active and critical users<\/strong>, contributing to the creation of a more inclusive public dialogue.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>The third cycle of the School of No Bias project is implemented by WHEN as part of the programme \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/actionaid.gr\/power\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">POWER \u2013 Promoting Organisations\u2019 empoWErment to guarantee women\u2019s human Rights and stop gender violence<\/a><\/strong>\u201d. POWER aims to empower Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Italy, Greece and Spain to protect, promote and foster broad recognition of the fundamental rights of women and femininities, as well as to combat gender-based violence.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>POWER is co-funded by the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV \u2013 2023 \u2013 DAPHNE) and is implemented under the coordination of We World (WW), in partnership with ActionAid Hellas (AAH) and Asociaci\u00f3n Bienestar y Desarrollo (ABD).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Funded by the European Union.
