How is it like to be part of an inclusive writing community<\/strong> that meets monthly to express themselves, learn, and exchange ideas?
\nWhat happens when new writers gain access to education, networks, publishing opportunities<\/strong>, or simply a space<\/strong> to write without distraction?<\/p>\n

\n

The program \u201cA room of their own<\/a><\/strong>\u201d for young and underrepresented women writers\u2019 empowerment in Greece is coming to an end and invites us to a connecting, reading, and writing<\/strong> event, where young and established writers, members of publishing houses, journalists, and stakeholders will meet and discuss to co-shape a new landscape of literary expression and acceptance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, May 13th, 18:00-20:00, at the WHEN Hub<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

At the event, we will talk about the need to represent diverse voices<\/strong> and how this is possible through learning and networking spaces<\/strong> that provide support for care<\/strong>. Our distinguished guest, Lucie Rico<\/a><\/strong>, author, screenwriter, director and associate professor of creative writing at the University of Clermont Auvergne, who will be at the WHEN Hub<\/a><\/strong> for a short residency<\/strong> as part of the program, will read excerpts<\/strong> from her work and touch on the issue of gender equality<\/strong> from a literary perspective<\/strong>, through an open, on-stage discussion with Pinelopi Theodorakakou<\/strong>, co-founder of WHEN.<\/p>\n

During the event, we will celebrate the creative journey<\/strong> of the writing community that was created through \u201cA room of their own\u201d: new women writers<\/strong> who expressed themselves, shared and redefined what it means to write<\/strong> and be heard<\/strong> in a world that is not always equal, will read excerpts<\/strong> from their own texts, which were collected in a special digital edition on the female experience, <\/strong>as part of the program.<\/p>\n

Through their voices<\/strong>, stories<\/strong> and experiences<\/strong>, the event aims to open a meaningful dialogue around representation<\/strong>, literature<\/strong> and the power of storytelling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u2192 Greek sign language interpretation and creative activities for children will be provided.<\/p>\n

The program \u201cA room of their own<\/a><\/strong>\u201d, a WHEN initiative to empower young and underrepresented women writers in Greece, in collaboration with the WHEN Hub and with the support of the Estee Lauder Emerging Leaders Fund and Vital Voices, has become a reference point for literature<\/strong> in Greece<\/strong> and a tool for social change, feminist action and women\u2019s empowerment<\/strong>. Through creative writing Masterclasses<\/strong><\/a>, monthly meetings of a dynamic writing community, a social media campaign, and the digital publication of a collective work on the female experience, the program created a safe and supportive community<\/strong>, where everyone had the opportunity to speak, express themselves, and evolve.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
