What do we mean when we talk about the novel<\/strong><\/p>\n

WHEN<\/strong>, in collaboration with WHEN Hub<\/strong> and with the support of the Est\u00e9e Lauder Emerging Leaders Fund<\/strong> and Vital Voices<\/strong>, is delighted to announce the launch of the program \u201c<\/span>A room of their own<\/a><\/strong>\u201d, designed to empower emerging and underrepresented women writers<\/strong> in Greece. The program focuses on education, networking, and visibility for women creators, fostering an inclusive literary community that amplifies women\u2019s voices and promotes equality through the power of storytelling. As part of the program, <\/span>five in-person and online Masterclasses<\/a><\/strong> will be held with acclaimed Greek (and international!) women writers, where participants will develop their creative writing skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paraphrasing the well-known title by Raymond Carver (What we mean when we talk about love), writer Amanda Michalopoulou will take us on a headlong journey through the vast territories of the novel<\/strong>: ascents and descents of plot, lakes of condensed meaning, dried-up swamps of inspiration, and stormy seas where heroes and heroines swim-or simply float. Wear comfortable clothes where you can hide overflowing ideas, and bring plenty of questions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amanda Michalopoulou<\/strong> was born in Athens. She had her literary debut by winning the short story award of the magazine Revmata and with her first short story collection Outside, life is colorful (1994). She has written nine novels, three short story collections, one play, and a novella. Her most recent novel is The journey of one woman into another (Patakis Publishers, 2025). She won the Award of Novel of the magazine Read for Giantes (1996), the International Literature Award of the American Federal Arts Foundation and the Liberis Liber Award of independent Catalan publishers for I would like (2005), as well as the Petros Haris Short Story Award of the Academy of Athens for a bright day (2012).
